The weather in Monte Carlo, to where I headed south from Paris for the Monaco Yacht Show, was much more to my liking, with the boats at Port Hercules positively gleaming under the Mediterranean sun. It was heavenly sitting on the terrace of the Lanson champagne bar, watching the world sail by.

I mostly stayed on dry land however, catching up with old friends from my days at Yacht Premiere magazine in Milan, as well as newer friends from The Yacht Report, with whom I collaborated on the book IDEAS. Also in town were friends from the Junior Senior agency and we chatted about ideas about doing some CLICKINI.com promotional events along the Cote d’Azur next summer, and a friend from London whose private banking work at SG Hambros involves a lot of yacht financing. It was her first time at the yacht show, but she still seemed to know more people there than I did! She also spotted more than just yachts, having sat next to The Edge from U2 on the train from Nice!

Although the atmosphere dockside at Port Hercules was very relaxing, my time in Monaco was rather constrained. After a charming farewell lunch on my aunt and uncle’s Monte Carlo balcony, overlooking the yachts in the harbour below, it was time to move on to the next destination…Milan.
